The PurpleAir PIXEL is a minimalist, next-generation air quality sensor built around the Bosch BMV080, the world’s smallest PM2.5 detector. This revolutionary device offers silent operation by using natural convection airflow, eliminating moving parts and making it ideal for personal or indoor use.

Designed for simplicity and portability, the PIXEL is powered via USB-A and displays real-time PM2.5 levels using a multicolor LED ring, which illuminates in accordance with the US EPA AQI color scale. This allows users to quickly assess air quality at a glance, without any configuration, networking, or software installation.

While it does not feature Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, the PIXEL offers optional USB serial data output for developers or advanced users who wish to retrieve raw PM2.5 data.

Additional features include:

• Brightness control via a user button

• Ambient light detection for automatic brightness adjustment

• Ultra-low power consumption (~0.5W)

• Standalone operation — no app or cloud service required

Just plug it into any USB port, and it’s ready to go. For best performance, ensure the air duct remains unobstructed. While it does not connect to the PurpleAir Real-Time Map, future software updates may enable data uploading via USB.
